Knowledge is Power! No better person in Australia to learn the specialist skills and techniques of "Lock Carpentry" - Tony Gouverneur, Sydney Australia an absolute specialist professional.

The Lockcarpentry online course exceeded my expectations, providing a thorough and engaging learning experience. I am confident that the knowledge and skills I have gained, will prove invaluable in my carpentry career.

Dane - QLD

I highly recommend the online lock carpentry course.

It’s simple and easy to use via the app. It gives a good insight into the industry not only from a practical aspect but also from a business aspect as well. It’s thousands of hours of knowledge bottled up into one course.

Trevor Dale - Canberra, Old-School Carpenter and TAFE Carpentry Teacher.

Kicked off my wood-shaping journey back in '87, and I've spent a good chunk of my life covered in sawdust. I reckon that's the best bit about carpentry - always a new trick or two to pick up. That's why I'm all thumbs up for the Lock Carpentry Course. Tony behind this course knows his stuff, and it's clear as day that it's been put together by his seasoned hands.

I used to fancy myself pretty good at hanging doors and popping locks into place. Decent job, I thought. But since I finished this course, mate, I feel like I've leveled up. Keen as mustard now to get my hands dirty with some top-notch hardware. All thanks to the Tide Tradie Jig, of course! I might be good, but let's face it, my jigs are the real star of the show here!

So here's a big shout-out to Tony! You've done a ripping job with this course, reminding this old chippy why he picked up the hammer and nails in the first place.

Hi mate. Thank you for follow up. It's a really interesting thing to learn and I appreciate you telling us all the possible problems which can occur while working. I do like the format and levels. It is well planned for me to understand. The videos make it more efficient because after a long day at work it’s very hard to read sometimes. I am trying my best to improve and will ask questions in the future. Thank you!

So much about door hardware I didn’t know! Really excited to spend some money on some jigs and give them a crack - I’ve always been taught the old school way! It worked no worries until I started getting the high end market of renovations and different types of expensive doors and hardware. There is more information than I expected that's for sure. Great knowledge to have!

This course interests me a lot as I never received much exposure to doors or door furniture given I was an apprentice and the carpenters would take that job. Plus we typically built between 1-1.5 houses per year so the exposure wasn’t really there for opportunity or repetition. I have a beautiful front door that I would like to install in a pivot style with quality door hardware. I’m looking forward to sinking my teeth into this course and developing my skills as a carpenter and tradesman.

Yeah the course is great. Very informative. Seems like you have covered every area so far. I’m currently going through the door hardware component and this is definitely the component I am less familiar with. So I might hit you up with a few questions, but rather than hitting you one by one I’m just writing them down as I go and then I’ll send them at once.

Hi Tony, Thanks mate. I have upskilled for sure doing your course. I will be in contact regarding buying tools and jigs. I need to spend time to see exactly what I need to get for my next two sites, but you know as a trade person yourself, we always like to add new tools. Your Tidy Tradie Jig is No.1 on my list.

Again Thank You, Heath - Michigan, USA

Hi Tony, Just completed the exam, WOOHOO!

I have found the information presented to be very beneficial. My knowledge of hardware, tools, and additional business ideas/practices has been nicely expanded. Thank you for offering this program and sharing your experiences, including the very personal ones.

Myself, at 50, have had health issues, and a 4 1/2 year old child who requires a great deal of attention. Thes have provided some challenges especially over the last 4 years. This meant that I could certainly relate to many of your challenges, experiences, and motivations. I am looking forward to applying what you have taught, and moving forward with new insights.

The course was well structured and covers everything from the basics to more advanced door hardware. I have really learnt a lot in areas I hadn't really been exposed to before.

Tony is clearly an expert in what he does and was always helpful and willing to give any advice when needed, as well as the members forum where people can bounce ideas and problems off each other.

Highly recommend this course to anyone looking to level up their knowledge in all aspects of door hardware.

Highly recommended - Thomas

The lockcarpentry course is a well thought out program for those looking to improve their skill set. Tony goes over all aspects of this niche industry, including how to handle clients and suppliers and how to stay on top of things and be well organised.

He is also quick to respond to any questions you may have during the course.

Has my story taught you anything or helped you at all?

This was really insightful. I think most passionate carpenters are always keen to hear how others have got to where they are, what steps led them to make certain decisions or acquire certain skills. Thanks for sharing.

Nice Tony. Everyone’s got a story…. Very interesting. I always wondered about your background and how you got into lock carpentry!

Getting paid in the building game has always been a problem and still is today. I’m a Chippy and have been for 10 years doing all types of renovations. I’ve always been interested in hanging doors and hardware as you don’t really touch it as an apprentice, and no one really taught me properly!

I did a lot of research on the internet and used to use the XXXX and it was good for hinges but then I stumbled across you and your jig, it's way better! Once you learn its features, I think people are intimidated at the start but once you understand it, it’s bloody great, I’ve still got a lot to learn with it!

I'm still figuring out what I want to do in the building game. I’ve been using your jig now for a year and I love it. I definitely shock people on site at how quick I am at hanging doors and installing locks. The other day I did 9 standard locks with a t strike. That’s my record. And obviously all perfect with the jig.

Wonderful to hear how you’ve overcome considerable personal loss and adversity, and yet you have still succeeded in becoming an industry leader in your field. Your results are awesome. As a trade qualified locksmith based in Brisbane/Gold Coast, I am forever looking at ways to improve my own woodworking skills to match my metalworking knowledge base.

I too have noticed the shortfall of sound lock-fitting skills and knowledge on sites, and believe me, these problems exist in the locksmithing trade too! I have considered retraining as a carpenter to learn these skills, but never felt that I could take the pay cut back to apprentice wages while in training. I also doubt my body could take the punishment. Even after doing so, I’d be most interested in the finishing work. I guess I want to be a lock carpenter too!

Your full story is really inspiring to hear, and I can’t wait to learn from you.

Has my story taught you anything or helped you at all?

I can relate to many aspects of your story. Where I’ve come from and where I’m at now. Looking for another business avenue rather than a carpenter, supervisor or builder.

Has my story taught you anything or helped you at all?

Absolutely. Hearing how you overcame challenges and managed to continue to build your skills is admirable!

Has my story taught you anything or helped you at all?

It has shown similarities and differences in our life paths ,which I found to be comforting. Your openness and honesty I find refreshing and helpful. Most of all, you offered hope to a highly skilled individual dealing with his own set of changing life and business circumstances. When things are done I will give you my resume.

Thank you for sharing yours.

What do you think of the course so far?

Really enjoying the course and can tell you’ve put a lot of effort into it. A lot of good Insights into lock carpentry and not even half way yet. Can’t wait to get back into it and learn some more and finally put it into practice.
