Discover Why 200 Builders Say There's a Crisis in Luxury Door Hardware Installation.

In February 2024, Tony Gouverneur “The Lockcarpenter”, ran a poll on Instagram Stories.
Nearly 200 builders, carpenters and locksmiths responded in 24 hours.
The question was simple: what problems do you experience when it comes to installing door hardware on high-end residential builds?
The answers were eye-opening. 33% reported poor installation work that gets defected. Builders described carpenters butchering mortises, misaligning strike plates, and damaging doors - to be rectified at the builder’s expense.
Carpenters admitted they’re too slow. When you’re quoting your own jobs, speed matters. Carpenters shared that they might install hardware on just 4 or 5 doors across an entire year, not nearly enough repetition to build real speed or confidence with non-standard luxury hardware.
Everyone is struggling with non-standard hardware. Imported luxury locks, handles, locking flush pulls with no instructions, the hardware architects and designers are specifying is nothing like the 54mm holesaw jobs most carpenters were trained on. No one is teaching tradespeople how to handle it.
The conclusion? There is a serious shortage of skilled luxury hardware installers in Australia and the builders or homeowners who need them are desperate.
That’s exactly why Tony created the Lockcarpentry course. And this free report is where it starts.
